Sorry, there's no icon, neither in Mozilla nor in MSIE. And there's no <link rel="SHORTCUT ICON" ...> tag in the source. Would be a nice poll topic:

Can you see the icon?
- Yes, in IE.
- Yes, in Mozilla.
- Yes, in Blabla.
- No, not at all.

I have IE6. First the icon was not there - then I bookmarked EBT once again - the icon appeared in my "favorites" and now it also appears in my URL box.

Next step: Add the icon to the forum as well!

MSIE is an unfortunate example, as it generally won't display the icon unless you've bookmarked www.eurobilltracker.com after the favicon.ico was installed, and removing/readding ebt to your bookmarks might not be enough to make the icon visible again. MSIE also "forgets" the icon after the icon is no longer in the browser cache.

You're right, there was no shortcut icon link. I was thinking that it would be needed only when the favicon.ico was named something else or located somewhere else, as the browsers would request /favicon.ico by default. It turned out that at least Mozilla has an additional feature that displays the favicon even when the site is not bookmarked if there's that link rel="shortcut icon" in the source, so I've added that line to the HTML now. I have also fixed the MIME type for .ico files, now it should use the type image/x-icon instead of the default text/plain. Let me know if you still run into problems. I know that some browser versions don't support the favicon thing, but now it should be working for the ones that do support it.

If you're using MSIE, try removing EBT from your bookmarks (if it's there) and then add EBT to your bookmarks. MSIE won't display the icon otherwise (and might not display it even if you do those things).

IE6 - works for me, although I had to add the site to my favorites (no, I had never done that - so, shoot me ;)). It now also appears in the address bar, just like Donald said.

EuroBillTracker wrote:How about using the single paw as the icon and using the space freed after removing the banner ad for a set of paws ?
Here is a banner design (just an experiment):

The paw on the left should perhaps be twisted counter-clockwise a bit, but I couldn't do this. I also would like to put a wrinkled euronote in the lower right corner.

In this directory is all the "raw material" that led to the above. Anyone who wants to go on designing can download the stuff from there.

It's not here for me!
I have IE 6.O as well. I have bookmarked it again, but nothing happens.

The paw disappeared some days ago. I just re-bookmarked EBT again, still no paw! :(

I don't seem to have a problem. I also tried to access the icon directly (ie have written http://www.eurobilltracker.eu/favicon.ico in the address bar) and it's there...

I blame MSIE:

.. so perhaps you should try using some other browser. Once MSIE has forgotten the icon it's really painful to make it understand the icon again and it's really not worth the trouble to make it visible again. I know, I've been dealing with this issue in the past. The icon is still there, there have been no changes to that part of the site.
