Well, Finland did win the Eurovision Song Contest 2006. It must be one of these global warming things.q098 wrote:My opinion is that

My first non-euro-zone hit (and my first intercontinental hit) has been already discussed in the Finnish forum but I hope you don't mind if I let you know about it in the English forum as well. Here's the story behind the hit in a nutshell.
Last December I decided to escape all the Christmas hussle and spend two weeks before the Xmas vacation at the beach in India. On my way back home the Finnair flight stopped an hour at the international airport of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
At the tax free shop of Sharjah they did accept euros but they could pay back only in local money or dollars. So I went to money exchange booth to change my €50 to smaller euro notes. No problem.
As I changed my note, I noticed that they have a lot of very dirty and worn euro notes there and for my big surprise they let me change seven more €50 notes (all that I had in my wallet at that time) to 70 €5 notes. I quess the Arabs rather have a suitcase full of €50 notes than 10 suitcases full of €5 notes.
Later I have regretted I didn't change all the money that I had in my money belt as well. Anyway those 70 €5 notes are still in circulation somewhere in Finland if not already burned as the banks in Finland are very eager to send all the worn notes back to the Finnish Bank to be destroyed.
I'm so happy that this my very first non-euro-zone hit (or half a non-euro-zone hit as the other place is in the euro-zone) took place with a note that I changed to be used in the tax free shop. Why? Because I always prefer hits with notes from normal circulation to notes that have been changed with EBT (in one way or another) in mind (for example those 70 five euro notes).

Congrats for a nice hit, which probably is the first real hit from L. There's some doubt on the Finnish forum regarding the FIN-LIE hit. I'm one of the Cassandras doubting its autencity, a single note entered in LIE, in Nendeln of all places and a 14 days old hit with another Finn and the note being a Finnish issued note ....

At last I can post my own hit in my own thread
My first UK hit happened this afternoon, with a €5 bill that I picked up at my local post office; previously entered in Erwitte in Germany by thatsme-p. The note will travel with me on my business trip next week, and will be spent in either Vienna or Konstanz, so keep an eye out for it!

Deal! It will get dropped either at the airport or, more likely, somewhere in South West Vienna, near Altmannsdorf, apparently (unfortunately, I fly in, meet clients, and fly straight out again, so no chance to go into the city)ErGo wrote:Bring the note to Vienna and we will try to find itlazza wrote:The note will travel with me on my business trip next week, and will be spent in either Vienna or Konstanz, so keep an eye out for it!
