EBTM08: Chitchat

Post by Mr Euro »

Hey,

The end of the year is sight, time to think about next years Eurobilltrackersmeeting EBTM08. It will be a very special one, it's the 5th EBTM that will be organised.

This topic can used to talk about anything of EBTM08, except candidacy and voting-discussion. Those topics will follow in the coming days!

For instance:

* Who would you like to see on EBTM08?
* What would be a great idea to celebrate the fifth EBTM ?
* What did you like about the meetings in Brussels, Helsinki, Amsterdam and Berlin ?
* Did you make new friends at previous editions?
* ....

Well, I'd be happy if I could see at least these people. (note that because of the amount of people in my list, I have added "Next page" and "Previous page" links on the bottom of each page)

And well, of course I've made some friends in EBTMs. Or rather, gotten to really know some of my friends better :)

I don't have a specific list of people to meet, but I like to meet those in the list Dakkus made (even half of them ) .
The EBT-meeting of Amsterdam was my first ever meeting. I liked it that much, I joined almost each meeting after that (not just Dutch, but also German ones); that much I liked it to be with fellow-hobbyists.

The meeting of Berlin I built my holidays around. I think I'll do the same with the next meeting (so in a few weeks I know where my holidays will be next year).

What I would like to see at EBTM08 ?

A bunch of nice people, just like the previous meetings :)
Some sightseeing in the specific city.
To eat something praticulary from that country, like the bratwurst in Berlin :P
Nice weather
Some banks
A nice trip towards the meeting :)

Anything actually, I already wonder where EBTM08 will be held.
Will it be Paris, Ljubljana, Vienna, or maybe even Rome or Lisbon.
I'll be looking forward to it :)

Don't forget Madrid. Dublin is out of question though, I guess. :D

And of course Barcelona :D

I'm curious to know if there will be someone from Cyprus or Malta joining the EBTM08.
Two new euro countries.

We had two Slovenians in Berlin last year :D

I don't really know where I should post it ; but as there's no place for "non-candidate cities", I'd better post it here.

Indeed, in order to clarify any further discussion, I'd like to mention that, because of personal priorities, I will not propose a bid for Paris2008.

On the other hand, we will certainly propose a bid for EBTM2009. Since there will be a winter or a summer version of this EBTM ; I believe that, according to the proposals that will come up on the French forum, we will decide later on which version the bid will cover... (Just imagine a EBTM in a French Alps Ski resort  )

Good luck for EBTM2008 !

I was seriously thinking of Tignes, as we have a good user, OlivierTNT, who owns a shop overthere. This idea has been around on the French forum since at least one year...

It's a pity that our French friends cannot host the 2008 meeting,,,
At least I hope to see you at EBTM2008, wherever it will take place.

Sounds interesting :)
I wonder for how long we'll have our so called die-hard-club.
Users who visited all "offcial" EBTMs until now :)

Than there would be more chance for being one of those who visited the most meetings.

I will try to keep my place in the summer-die-hard-club. I might visit some winter versions, too, but I won't fight very much for that. Maybe that's because I'm from a town that dies every October and I'm not very used to doing anything at all in wintertime :D

I must also say that I am very happy for this decision. This way people will still meet each other, but probably in a smaller group. I personally have enjoyed each meeting a bit less than the previous one. The other reason might be that I'm growing adult. But the other, more important, reason is that the number of participants has grown too high for me to handle. With a smaller amount of people I feel like being with the group. When there are more people, it's inevitable that I will end up being with some of my closest EBT friends in the group. In the end, the large number of participants has meant that I get to know /less/ EBTers.
There's nobody at all that I'd like to send away from the meetings, but I'd prefer the number of participants to be slightly lower. And I figure that's what's happening now. I am happy and I think everyone else is, too.

I see, what you mean:
At the end of the last meeting in Berlin, I noticed some EBT-members I hadn't talked with. I even don't know if someone else talked with them, so it might even be, that they were just with us, but not part of us. I wonder if they liked to be at the meeting.

With a smaller group, it would be more possible to talk with everyone.

Allthough I try to be with both the Summer- and Wintermeetings, I think many people would choose between them.

But I haven't seen any candicy yet (but I think, I'm too inpatience: I'm curious where my holidays will be next summer  ).
