Winter EBTM09: Bologna+Ferrara

Hey,

I'm glad to announce that the candidacy of Bologna+Ferrara to organise the Winter EBTM09 has been approved by the meetingjury!

So it's official! After Brussels, Helsiniki, Amsterdam, Berlin and Ljubljana, we will meet again in Bologna and Ferrara somewhere next winter. They have the honour to organise the first wintermeeting.

Stay tuned. In the coming days/weeks the organisers will tell us more about the timing and specifics of Winter EBTM09!

This request in order to avoid the situation where some users did not understand all planning for Ljubljana.

Our proposed meeting will take place some weekend in between January and March 2009.

The summer-EBT was in the third weekend of August.
To get the same time before and after the two meetings, the winter-EBTM would be around the third weekend of February.

Of course it's not a rule, but the organisation of such a meeting will take such a time. To give an example: the voting for the dates of the meeting in Ljubljana was closed at 27th January. If we would use the same period now, the date would be known already .

Imho you can't do this kind of counts... maybe next summer-EBT could be organized in July or September (those are allowed months as Mr Euro wrote here) totally changing your idea to have an EBTM each 6 months.
Seems quite obvios having a range of 3 months where to organize a meeting as candidates can have some problem to organize it in some weekends (because important events, fairs, etc.)

The 3 month range is to allow to organisers to suggest a few dates. You can't compare dates between summer and winter EBTM. Nor summer vs summer. Winter vs winter. The range is there to have some flexibility for the organisers. Sometimes it's not possible to organise an EBTM on a specific weekend (pe 1 City x hosts Olympic Games and all hotels are booked, pe2 the main organiser can't get leave on certain dates)

I'm sorry, if it seemed I already pointed the date.
I just wanted to expres my thought, that it would be nice if the two meetings aren't too close to each other: To me, December seemes to soon and March/April seemes too late (too short before the summer-EBT).

Therefor I suggested the period of six months between the meetings: than you have the longest period between them .

This may sound silly, but I'm already looking forward to it!! I'll be there!!
And Mr Euro, remember what I've said in Ljubljana? I have the same feeling again, now that the plans are being made: the winter meeting won't be a "light" version: you may organise it that way, but I'm confident that again 50+ enthousiasts will show up.

I can't tell you how happy I am that the Italians volunteered. Yay!
And it's not that I don't enjoy meeting all the old familiar participants at the meetings, but this time I really hope to see some new faces from Portugal, Malta, Ireland, Luxembourg or any other country which hasn't hosted an EBT meeting yet. Come and join the fun, and then organise a future meeting in YOUR area. Dozens of trackers are already saving their fivers for the next gathering.

I'm afraid that the Italian organizers should be counting on 100 participants, not 50, because Italy is much easier to reach for everyone.

There are already Portuguese EBTists interested in attending. Depending on the date, I am surely one of them. I've been to Bologna long time ago, just on my way from Rome to Parma, but I've never been to Ferrara and it's a UNESCO World Heritage site! So, unless it's really impossible for me on the specific date of the event, count on me!
