Nice topic John.

John, why are you interested in the Euro? For Americans, there's only 1 currency, the USD, isn't it?

Actually, I am! I live in Ohio.

I don't like dollar hegemony. I like to see a greater balance of wealth and opportunity world wide. Dollar hegemony creates nothing but poverty. It creates misery in much of the third world and in the US it has created a working poor environment.

The euro is the only currency strong enough to end dollar hegemony and help rebalance the world's economic wealth. That's why I want to see the euro prosper.

I wish the current critic situation of the US economy & military could oblige the president to stop his occupation in Irak and at last fight the deficits and the debt!

The twin deficits in the USA is a bomb much more dangerous for the world than Al Qaida! If the US economy collapse as the argentinian did 4 years ago, it will be very very hard for millions of people!!!

Only talking about security prevents the media from talking about the real problems: US economy is in a real bad situation.
Consequences for Canada would be a disaster!

Why? Under the present policy of dollar hegemony, the deficits and debts are of no concern to the government nor Wall Street. As long as "foreign investors" keep buying US bonds, there is no reason for the US government to involve itself. Other then to preserve dollar hegemony.

The US economy will never crash like Argentina, as long as dollar hegemony exists. If there was no dollar hegemony, US debts and deficits would never have gotten to the level they are now. It they had, the US economy would have crashed a long time ago. Dollar hegemony makes the US immune to the effects of over printing money to pay debts.

Most Americans and the media included to not really comprehend how dollar hegemony works. Many in the media depend on "expert sources" who keep preaching that American debts and deficits are small compared to the total value of the economy. Nobody knows or wants to hear the real truth of who is paying our debts for us and should they stop, what trouble we will be in.

Do you see why Wall Street and Washington feel the need to preserve dollar hegemony as long as they can?
