Suggestion to change the hit list lay-out

Post by Annie_in_exile »

I took a look at the list of interesting hits and realised that there's plenty of space between the columns. Do you think you could squeeze that space and include the names of the users who have entered these notes already in the list, so we wouldn't have to use the note link to see who they are? This way it may be easier to spot suspicious users / serial hitmen as well.

Indeed, good idea. I hope it is easy to implement. Fons is sitting next to me and also thinks it is a good idea.

Well, thanks you two! I was hoping for some more support. None of the computer wizards who are updating the site has given any comments either.

Think of it this way: your idea wasn't shot down and thus it might be implemented some day.

Okidoki. It's not that I waited cheering and applauses but when there's no comment at all, it makes one feel that the suggestion was stupid enough to be ignored completely.

Hihi - I had almost forgotten the whole idea until I saw it put into practice today. Thank you very much! :) :D

P.S. do you think that the printer code is relevant on the list? If it was removed, there would be some more space. After all, it can be seen when looking at the details of the note.

I'm sorry, but I don't like the new improvement. The page is far to full in my opinion...

<Edited> This was a comment on the flags at the hitsection. I do like (VERY MUCH) the new maps </EDITED>

I like it. Now we don't have to go to the page if we won't to. We see directly which users have a hit.

Good point. I've removed it now. The short code is not that interesting in this context, it's still going to be in the Notes listing of course.

Well, I can't please everyone, but you're free to voice your opinion. I've removed the printer code from the page to make the layout a bit lighter. Granted, having those flags in there may make the page look a bit full. We'll see how this goes..

Ok, how does everybody suggest we handle notes with more than three hits, I think it doen't look that nice. Add "&moderate=false" to the url to see what I mean

Maybe it is a option to hide the exact time... It is not that important, because you rarely see several hits on one day.

But maybe in the future it will be neccesairy because by then we will get zillions of hits each day! 8)

So i don't know if this solution will last for years.

Simple: just moderate those notes. I mean: what is the chance to get more than three or four real hits?

Why don't we worry about that when the time comes? :P

Gee, I did as you suggested and the list looked like a pan-European train timetable, or rather an assembly of pan-European train wagons. Never got to the juicy bits, though, to see which 2-point hits had been moderated recently.

I must confess that the list isn't too beautiful as it is but it sure is informative. If I could choose, I'd take this new version. (And there's no possibility of hiding the far left and far right columns?)

My thoughts exactly. However, I've modified the listing slightly to include only the first three names, all the flags are still there though. It might make more sense to include the last three names instead of the first three, but it was easier this way  I'll have a look at it again when we get the first real 4-hit. Frankly, I don't really care how the moderate=false listing looks like. People using that listing know they're getting ugly data anyway, so getting that ugly data in an ugly layout shouldn't really matter that much.
