Foreign Banknotes

Post by bhoeyb »

By curiosity, I've calculated the percentage of foreign banknotes I've entered so far. This is the result:
Belgium: 76,9 %
The Netherlands: 11,6 %
Germany: 6,2 %
France: 2,6 %
Austria: 1,1 %
Spain: 0,6 %
Portugal, Italy, Ireland: 0,3 %
Finland: 0,1 %
Greece: 0 %
I live (of course) in Belgium, 15 min. from Holland and 30 min. from Germany. Has someone else other %s :?: BYE ...

I have been a member for a month and this is my list:

90,9 % Finland
2,3 % Germany
2,3 % Spain
1,1 % Austria
1,1 % France
1,1 % Greece
1,1 % Italy

A good result considering how far Finland is from the other eurozone countries. Actually my hometown Rovaniemi is situated in Lapland and tens of thousands of foreign tourists visited Lapland this winter. :D
Also a lot of Russians come by car just for shopping, but :? they prefer dollars.
Snow has finally started to smelt, but still a month before you can see green leaves in the trees. Thousands of Europeans will soon drive via Rovaniemi to North Cape (Nordkapp) and I am sure I'll get more foreign euronotes. :D
German, Dutch, French, Italian, Austrian and Belgian cars are the most common ones so I expect to get notes especially from these countries. :D
During December charter planes will bring about 50000 British and Irish visitors to Rovaniemi airport. Most of them will stay just for a day to meet Santa Claus and to see reindeer and snow. My changes of getting Irish notes are very good then. :D

Not possible on the site. You have to calculate them yourself :? :!:

I haven't got a great variety yet. Here's my percentage breakdown:

Germany - 60.6 %
France - 24.2 %
Austria - 15.2 %

I've only been in France and Germany this year, out of the current Eurozone countries though ... (for some reason I got Austrian notes from a Bureau de Change here in London). In terms of coins, I got an Italian one as change in Eastern France. Wonder how it got there!

At my place, I get about 20% foreign coins already. Mostly from Holland or Germany. I'm still waiting for one from Greece, Finland or Portugal ...

No wonder! It simply goes through hands!
Here in north-eastern Italy I got French, Belgian and Dutch coins, among others, while German and Austrian ones are very common (for German coins only higher denominations, anyway; luckily I completed the whole German set thanks to a nice German tracker :D )

Yeah, but I was in a small town not close to Italy .. not even near a motorway (nor a TGV in the département). I could understand how coins from Luxembourg and Germany get to the town quickly, as it isn't too far from either. Just thought it was strange my first "foreign" coin was in Vesoul ... when I had previously been in Hamburg, Berlin and Paris and only received the "local" coins. Ah well, stranger things have happened.

Hi TC!

It's nice to know there is a small possibility for a hit. :D
I'll keep on looking.
