Day 1: Friday 6 August 2004: The arrival

Post by Mr Euro »

Hey,

In this thread, we discuss, day 1.

Friday will be the day, that the non-belgian EBT can arrive in Belgium by train/airplane/other means.

Anyone for a drink on this evening or any other ideas?

Let's arrive at ±18:00, have a dinner somewhere and after that go to a pub/
café/discotheque, to learn to know each other a bit better.

No discoteques for me please, my eyes can't stand them... 8O
Everything else is OK, but I was thinking maybe someone (Mr Euro?) should give his mobile phone number to everyone. Just in case someone isn't able to find the place in Brussels where we will meet
Or aren't you alright with giving your phonenumber to so many other people, Mr Euro?

Ok, meeting at a central point would be nice, and then we could indeed go somewhere and chat informally and have a meal / drink together

Or we find ourselves in groups of interest. Me, I prefer the idea with dinner and then going to a pub. I am not fond of discotheques. Or we all have dinner together. We will find ourselves in the relevant groups then, according to preferences.

Who will join me to a pub? :D

I certainly would, but I don't know if splitting up like you suggest is alright. My point of view is that we're all quite the same, so we should be able to find something that is ok with everyone of us.

I agree with Chiel here, the purpose of the meeting is to meet each other,
and not to split up. In Dutch we say: "Samen uit, samen thuis" (literally:
"Going out together, going home together", it means that when you go out
you stay toghether until you go home.).

Problem here is that on friday people will arrive on different timeschedules and on different ways.

Timeschedules can vary from early in the morning as late in the evening. Every flight/train has it's own timeschedule.

By train: Brussel Central
By plane: Brussel National(Zaventem), Brussel South (Charleroi), Hahn
By car: to be decided.

I suggest that we Belgians pickup everybody in the trainstation/airports and bring them to a meetingpoint in Brussels. Where we can all have a drink or meal. I guess people from far away will already have there meal in the plane.

Maybe we should meet somewhere around 8 in the evening. By then the most of us should have been able to reach Brussels.

I'll start my Europe-tour on 15th July and would be good if you can decide before that where we are going to meet. I'm flying from Prague to Cologne on 5th August and coming from Cologne to Bruxelles on 6th August by train.

BTW. I'll join you Asiamaniac. I just love beer and I want to get to know with Belgian beers. :)

Dinner and a pub seem like a good idea to me, although I can only allow myself a glass of wine with dinner. I have to drive back to my parents' place and have to stick with soft drinks for the rest of the night.
I don't háve a life.

Er... Seems that the meeting point in Brussels is still not decided... It's in less than 1 month now  An idea, someone ?
