Switzerland.........16,265.........23,495.........+7230.........+44.45%...Hits....+34.42%

Germany, Belgium,Finland, Netherlands and Austria.
Of these countries only Belgium increased encodage last year but that has now reversed. Germany and the Netherlands have progressed extremely well.
Finland has reduced by 26.36% in 2 years and Austria by 32.67% in the same period.

Mid ranking countries (Italy, France, Slovenia, Portugal and Spain)
In 2010 Italy, France and Slovenia increased encodage but in 2011 only Slovenia did so. Portugal has dropped by 40.37% in 2 years and Greece by 42.53%.
Greece has fallen by 64.17% since it's high point in 2006.

The smaller countries.
Malta, Slovakia and Greece suffered significant falls. Ireland and Luxembourg had modest increases while Cyprus and Switzerland advanced quite well.
Estonia had the biggest increases in both notes and hits but as it had just joined the eurozone no comparison can be made.

I have included Switzerland here as it is the Nr. 1 non-eurozone country.

In his report for 2010 Yelverdack forecast that the numbers would be somewhere between 14 and 16 million notes and in this he was correct. I believe that the same will be truu for 2012 despite the financial crisis being experience by the euro and the debt crisis afflicting some member countries.

Thank you for taking the time to do this, very nice. It's a shame to see Portugal doing so poorly since 2009, it's so difficult to get a hit these days over here. The only good news is that new members increased very slightly in 2011 when compared to the previous year. Let's hope they remain interested. :)
