50EUR bills from France

Post by Tiger »

I noticed something rather strange about the bills of 50EUR from France...

At the back side, the '50' is printed in a special ink that changes color when you change your viewpoint.
Well, I noticed that on the 50EUR bills of every country except France, the letters are really 'sharp'.
But on the French bills it looks rather 'blurry'.
(I hope you know what I mean, I'm not that good at expressing myself that good in English :D)

The difference is very good viewable.
Just take a French and another 50€ bill and you see it.

I also noticed that when I use a pencil to write on a bill the paper is not always the same...

When you write with a marker there's no problem at all. And different paper, I realized that too, some bills have very strong paper (dutch ones have, hard to fold), and others haven't. But I thought the ECB has said every bill has to be produced the same way?

The majority of coins and notes I see are from Portugal, Spain and France, and I've also seen from differences..

on notes, I think spanish notes look more "dry", less "cetin" (does this make any sense?), I don't see difference between portuguese and french notes...

but talking about coins, the french ones, are the ones where I see some differences.. they don't shine so much, and not because they travelled a lot, they look they never as the shine of portuguese or spanish notes, this happen on 10-50 eurocents..

I noticed two types of edges in the golden coins (10, 20, and 50 cents): One type being more rectangular, the other one more slanted:

But that seems not to be related to certain countries nor mints nor years. From Spain and Netherlands I only found the rectangular type but that may be because my collection is so small.

Micro, you might want to change that link. Your host doesn't support linking directly to the image anymore.
May the Euro be with you.

Yes, you're right. At the moment, I have 50EUR from Holland, France and Belgium. The 50 of the French one is blurry and doesn't change from colour easy. It looks fake; like it's printed on the bill using a bad ink colour deskjet printer. France is also using a darker orange colour. The 50 from Holland is also a very littlebit blurry; 50 from Belgium is very sharp :) . Holland is using a light orange ink, Belgium is between. France is also using clear blue ink in the European Flag and bright yellow in the stars.
The banknotes should be all the same but there are quit a lot small differences between countries.

lol

But now that we’re at it : some time ago I had a bill with the printercode totally erased. I even posted a picture about it. It was a French bill.

2 or 3 days ago I got another French bill where the printercode was fading away. Maybe I’ll take a picture of it too and post it.

Hope there's some sun this weekend (don't like to take pictures of bills in artificial light).

I've tried to make a picture with a digital camera but the photo is too small to see. I've made a scan: only the different 50s are a littlebit clear. The different colours aren't possible to see on the scan. You'll have to wait to get the bills yourself ...
BTW, is it possible to insert a picture in a post without an url of that picture :?:
