EBT meeting at the end of the summer...

Post by Olivier »

Who would be interested in a EBT meeting?

When we know who is interested, then we could decide when and where...

1 - Olivier! :D
(my preference would be in northern France, or in the Benelux). I can't afford a night in a hotel. Of course, the best for me would be in Paris.

Who's next?

Euro Disney is my absolute favorite.

Since according the stats the top 3 of our users today are Germans, Dutch and Belgian. I suggest "Het drielandenpunt" (Three Countries Point). Would also be a bit symbolic. I bet you can attract newspapers and televisions with that. "Euro-lovers come together at crosspoint of countries"

If we take the top 5 of our users: Then we have Germany, Belgium, Holland, France and Finnland. Mmm, difficult one. Maybe Luxemburg should be a good place. Press isn't exciting overthere. Maybe we can do something about that there. We could even spend the afternoon (as entertainment) by handing out flyers and putting up posters.. hehe

But since it's gonna be our first meeting, we should organize it, so that

a) Philippe is certainly gonna be there. It's his work, he must be able to come to the first meeting ever! (He's like the godfather of Eurotracking  )
b) It's a full day or it should be somewhere you can make a weekend out of it. Like a citytrip, so that if you come from far, it not only for the meeting that you have to come for.
c) There is an interesting scoop for the press. Euro-Disney, Switzerland (Country of Money and banks), Brussels/Straatsburg (European Council), Maastricht (Yep, the treaties which made this all possible),... EBT should be linked to something very Euro-like. This is an interesting scoop for press. What do you think about meeting on a bridge? (Got the link?)

At very least it must be fun to come to!!!

Let me know what you think.

I'm interested too. And Paris Would be a great idee because it's a beatiful city and you can go there easely by airplain or train.
But a certain date is very importent to me, because im still at school.
So only the weekend could be possible for me.
Maybee it's possible to stay at a few users places. But a cheap hotel is good to.

Why not near Schengen?

I don't go to the Benelux so often...

Celebrating the Euro in the country of Disney, it is weird! Euro-Disney is expensive, and definitly too american !

But not in the European Union.

I prefer a european place.

Bruxelles or Paris is the most convenient for the transports, I think.

Next winter Finnair has a direct flight Paris-Rovaniemi-Paris once a week. So if I had a lot of euros, I´d love to come to Paris for a week. :)
Sorry, it is just a dream. :(

Yeah, Europe is too big for everyone to join the EBT-meeting. But if take our time to plan, we can try to find a solution to reach the most people. If we can get 50 outta 5100 users. It will be a big success!

Airis, Craft and other fellow EBT'ers, why don't you organize a Finnish meeting? Could be fun too!

The cities mentioned in a previous posting were just examples not suggestions. Althought I'm still in favor of EuroDisney, because of the meltingpot of Euro's and because an American Spinoff Company uses Euros above Dollars. Euro rulezzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I like the idea, however, since I don't have any means of transportation, I can't really go anywhere out of Holland

Whew. I think this Topic is wicked. Every time I wanted to post a request something came in between. :(

Anyway. I’m interested in an EBT meeting too. Brussels or Paris (or even Amsterdam) would be nice. Well I work in Brussels, takes me 20 minutes to get there by train. Paris is only 1h25 further. For Amsterdam it takes 1h40.

Only problem is, this 2 months I can only go in the weekend. And if we organize it during the summer time, I’m afraid most of the cheaper seats in those trains will be taken.
