The next generation of Euronotes may be equipped with RFID tags. RFID tags are small microchips which can be accessed via radio frequency. It would take lass than a second to register a note.
The idea of the EU is to make it impossible to reprint euronotes. However, it will be possible to track euronotes with the RFID tag very easyly.
For example, the bank would know who got which notes. In the next step a shop would just check who bought what.
In the end the big business would build a new Eurobilltracker database, but with many many more bills entered, even for people who do not like that.
Did you hear anything about the RFID idea? Do you know of any usage for the RFID technology that was already aknowledged?
The new RFID would also need to become a new field in the Eurobilltracker database similar to the serial number.
And last, but not least, how do we read the RFID? Will Bluetooth be a solution? Or do we need to buy new expensive technology?

RFID can't be read with bluetooth any more than GSM signal can be read with a television or Wireless Internet signal with a radio.Reini wrote: And last, but not least, how do we read the RFID? Will Bluetooth be a solution? Or do we need to buy new expensive technology?
If you want to read RFID, you must read RFID. That means you'll have to get an RFID receiver.
