Spanish notes in Belgium

Post by bhoeyb »

Looks like at the moment, there are more and more Spanish 20E m007.. banknotes in Belgium. A few days ago, I've got 7 brand new 20 E m007.. notes from the bank. Are they importing already new foreign banknotes??
Does someone noticed this in his country too?

I think, the reason is the pooling-system. In the future every printer will produce only special notes, for example, the [Bundesdruckerei Berlin] will produce 10 €-Notes only in the future. Every country will get its notes from these printers in depending of the value they need. For your observation this system seems to valid already 8)

The pooling system is used since 2002. The distribution of who issues what is found at my site (information/notes.php) for 2002 and 2003 and on the FAQ of the ECB (www.ecb.int/change/change.htm) for 2002 only.

But it is the NCB's who issue only special denominations on behalf of all other NCB's. And the NCB's order the notes from printers. X ordered 10 EUR notes befrore 2002 only at R, but this year maybe also at P since X/10/P-notes do appear recently.

I'm kind sleepy now.. not sure if I'm folowing you.. are you speaking about the printer code, or the serial number?

any way.. lasta month I've seen an unusual number of dutch 10euro notes, really brand new notes.. but they were dutch not only in the print code but also in the serial..

does this have anything to do with this discussion...?

Yes, both are Spanish, V-notes printed by M in Spain. It would be nicer if they make Belgian Z-notes printed by M in Spain.
That way, we can still follow the diffusion of foreing notes in each country. Now they are importing Spanish printed V-notes into Belgium :( . No way to have a correct diffusion view in the futur for each country   .
But we still have our hit system :) . BWT, I've been hit again today :D .

:?: I wouldn't stop if I was you, esp. now there are quite a lot of new users from Portugal! Look at the diffusion page at EBT.com: about 11% of inserted notes is from Portugal. That's as much as Belgium. The amount of inserted notes of your country is rising the most last months!
Anyway, it's your choise, but we'll miss you when you stop ... :|

So true. Funny that Portugal has more than 4x more EBT notes than Spain, even though Portugal's population is about 1/4 of Spain. Some stats:

Code: Select all

          Population Notes Ratio
Belgium 10274595 120745 85
Germany 83251851 146090 570
Greece 10645343 7369 1445
Spain 40077100 3830 10464
France 59765983 24436 2446
Ireland 3883159 4016 967
Italy 57715625 7182 8036
Luxembourg 448569 1343 334
Netherlands 16067754 79230 203
Austria 8169929 5946 1374
Portugal 10084245 18216 554
Finland 5183545 65384 79
.. 40 million people and only 3830 notes gives a ratio of one EBT note per 10464 Spaniards. Compare that with Finns -- one EBT note per 79 Finns :) Belgians aren't that far behind, either.
